Story

Rudra (Arya) is sent to Varanasi when he was kid since the astrologers told his father that the father and son should not meet each other for 14 years. When the father comes to search his son after 14 years, he finds out that Rudra has become an aghora. Rudra’s guru tells him that he should cut all the relationships to become Kal Bhairav and sends him back home. There is a local beggar’s mafia in Rudra’s village. Plot:

Story:

The story is all about a tug of war between two underworld gangs trying to outsmart each other. Periyavar’s (Raghuvaran) group is bigger and more powerful, while Chinna’s (Prakash Raj) group is struggling to gain strength.

The unexpected bold climax shows the misunderstanding between Sekar and Chinna and in that process Chinna's gang kill Trisha, Sekar kills Chinna and the police kill Sekar.

Plot:

Angry young man Thambi Velu Thondaiman (Madhavan) fights against all types of evils in the society. So, he runs into Sankara Pandian (Biju Menon), a local rowdy who brings violence into the city. Thambi thwarts Sankara Pandian's terrorizing plans with the help of his close associates. At this very moment, a flashback unravels how Sankara Pandian's gang kills Thambi's family after Thambi identifies the killer of a youth. The murderer is Sanakara Pandian's brother Saravana Pandian (Shanmuga Rajeswaran).

Shankara Pandian tries to bring about terror among the people for political reasons while Thambi tries to prevent the disaster. Later on, Thambi succeeds in changing Shankara Pandian's heart. However, Saravana Pandian is out to kill him, after coming out of the prison. The rest of the film has exciting encounters and the movie ends with a titillating climax, on a positive note for everyone.

Synopsis:

The D-day has finally arrived and with it comes Vel, one of the much-awaited movies of the festive season. Vel had everyone in the industry as well as the fans wondering whether the successful pair – Surya and Asin – could ignite the silver screen once again after their smash hit Gajini.

The movie has nothing new to offer and has all the aspects that one can expect of director Hari. It has shades of Hari’s earlier ventures all hashed up. Looks like the story has been inspired from good old movies, as its storyline is the stale twins-parted-during-childhood kind and how the family reunites, not to mention the villain somewhere out there wrecking vengeance.

As said earlier, one of the twins, played by Surya, is lost during childhood. A rich man from a village takes him under his care and brings him up, as his own son, naming him Shakthivel a.k.a Vel, who unaware of his true ancestry, grows up a village deary.

Meanwhile, heroine Asin learns about the existence of Vel and informs his twin, Vasu, a detective, who happens to live in the city with his mother. Vasu firmly believes that Vel is his brother and goes to the village to find out the truth. What ensues after this is the usual swapping of roles by the brothers to fight the villains and how the family reunites.

As usual, Surya has given his best. He looks relishing after a year long gap. Asin is her bubbly self as 7up Swathi, enjoying every bit of it. Vadivelu’s comedy is stale barring a few scenes. Music, scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, is very average and if one expects it to bring in the crowds to the theatres, then they are in for a rude shock. Brindha and Kalyan’s choreography is very mediocre and has nothing worth mentioning. Nothing novel has been attempted by the cinematographer, Priyan, but the special effects are excellent, particularly in scenes where both the Suryas are shown together.

The movie, before the intermission drags on and on but the second half moves at a faster pace, thanks to the screenplay. But Hari could have made it even crispier.

Overall a usual predictable movie added with all the masala that the fans need for an entertainer.

Ajith is an encounter specialist who aims at the criminals and tries to eradicate them from their roots. He is a sharp shooter and mimics the Hollywood heroes in some scenes like flying in the air and aiming the bad guys. His father who is a senior officer calls Ajith to trace an informer who was a follower to a criminal. Initially the informer agrees to reveal the truths of a dreaded terrorist. But due to the fear of his life the informer disappears into hiding and his name is Devan.

Devan believes that if goes against his crime lord, his life will be in serious threat and so backs off from his police approver role suspecting the police. The cops trace out that Devan’s daughter is studying in a college located in ooty and will be a great asset in luring Devan again as a police informer.

With the duty to follow Devan’s daughter Ajith walks into the college as a student and discovers another truth that his step brother is studying in the same college.

Navdeep plays the character of Ajith’s step brother who later on discovers that Ajith his elder bother and a son of his father.

Nayantara plays the role of a glam doll teacher in the movie who shows her every inch in the body liberally. Her saris minus the usual blouses and instead string supportedclothes wrapped around her bosom give the mass public an eye treat. She is seen in micro minis, floral tops which expose her well tones shapes and sizes to the maximum extent.

Piya is another heroine in this film who plays the character of Navdeep’s beloved and plays the character of the Devan’s daughter. She plays her best in the movie, but is dominated by Nayantara.

Suhasini plays the character of mother to Navdeep and is a strep mother to Ajith by the etching plot. .

The movie has nothing more to divulge and at last ends well in a happy note with the bad being punished and the good cheering up.

Plot:

'Kacheri Aarambam' is Jeeva's ticket to stardom. The actor, who is credited a lot for doing off-beat roles in the recent past, has consciously taken to do a racy commercial pot-boiler. Debutant filmmaker Thiraivannan has seemingly rehashed several scenes from many of the entertainers that made buzz earlier.

Jeeva reminds one of 'Thenavattu', where he almost played a similar role with same Poonam Bajwa around. The presence of seasoned campaigners like J D Chakravarthy and Vadivelu around, 'Kacheri ....' is nothing but a full-length commercial venture aimed at the so-called B and C audience.

The energy at which the story moves is the hallmark of the movie. Forget logic and sit through the film for a roller-coaster ride, which you would have had many times before watching such films.

The film begins at a journey in train where Paari (Jeeva) looks back at everything. Cut! the story goes to one remote village in Ramanathapuram. Paari is a do-gooder who helps everyone in need. A magnanimous man, he gives anything and everything to others if they ask for, apt to his name.

Promising his dad (Azhagan Perumal) to earn more, Paari sets out to Chennai to earn money. But he is thrown to more challenges in city. He meets a young girl Madhi (Poonam Bajwa) and falls in love with her. But also comes some trouble for Paari in the form of some goons, who flexes muscles with him. Sivamani (J D Chakravarthy), the dreaded but sophisticated don of the city gets ready to marry Madhu. It is now up to Paari and Sivamani to sort it out.

Jeeva has enough scope to try his hand at comedy, flex muscles and sing duets. Seemingly targetting youth, He has opted for more scenes that would appeal to the young generation. Poonam Bajwa looks cute. She has to get her emotions on screen right.

Vadivelu as Deepavali evokes laughter. His one-liners are witty. J D Chakri impresses a lot. His subtle performance is the highlight. A couple of songs by Imman are foot-tapping.

Produced by Super Good Films, 'Kacheri...' is a formula film, but Thiraivannan can be credited for making the movie work with his racy screenplay. Otherwise it is one among the many.

The film has good music, composed by veteran ARR. Overall, Simbhu already performed a role in Vallavan as younger than actress and finally settle to marry. But still is a good movie and one can enjoy the performance of an actor.

Plot:

Akil (Bharath) is a rich youth who runs a restaurant along with his buddy Cola Kumar (Vivek) in Singapore. As it happens, his dad (Nizhalgal Ravi) gets the shock of his life when Akil refuses to marry Priya (Madalasa).

Akil goes against his father's wish as he is desperate behind Divya (Sana Khan). Divya is a squash champion (seemingly inspired by ace tennis star Sania Mirza). Annoyed at Akil's denial, Priya's father spells out the truth that Akil was a orphan.

Shocked at the developments, Akil decides to embark on a journey and find out his biological parents, whom he comes to know stay in Chengalpet.

On his trip to homeland, he starts to encounter problems in the form of Divya's dad who is against their affair. He feels that her daughter as a popular sports woman could earn more through endorsing various brands. Enters Kumaraswamy (Prabhu), who plays a crucial part in the whole story. But all is well and ends well.

Plot:
The film starts with the spoof of the popular tamil film Karuththamma where a person tries to kill a just born baby. The baby is saved by its grand mother who takes it to Chennai. He then emerges as a hero Siva (Shiva) who answers to the miseries faced by people around him. Siva always spends his time with his friends, Nakul (M.S.Bhaskar), Siddharth (Manobala) and Bharath (Venniraadai Moorthy). First, Siva attacks some rowdies in a market who try to rape a girl. Rowdies gang leader Devaraj (Seenu) (imitation of mammootty's character in Thalapathi) visits his assistants and he discover that they are attacked by Siva . Next day, Siva visits Devaraj (he dresses and speaks like 'Baasha' Raghuvaran). Siva shows him that he gets scared of his own friend (who is dressed and imitates vikram's Kanthasamy). Devaraj runs away. Siva decides to kill Swarna, a foolish lady rowdy (he knows her by seeing the photo like Ghajini Surya). She kidnaps a boy (Ayyappan) and tries to rape him. In time, Siva comes to rescue and kills Swarna. He also falls in love with his classmate, Priya (Disha Pandey) whose father Kodeeswaran (Azhagu tv actor) is a politician like a typical Tamil film. When her father questions about the status of the hero, the hero challenges him (Annamalai) and becomes a millionaire within a minute. Consequently, the father agrees for their marriage. Siva next tries to kill heren Sankar (Delhi Ganesh) by doing the circus tricks (imitation of Kamal's Apoorva Sagodharargal in which he kills Delhi Ganesh). He tries to throw arrows on Sankar many times but doesn't succeed, Sankar shoots himself with a gun. Siva tries to kill a fool (Mahanathi Sankar) by bulls (imitating Anniyan), but the bulls don't obey him. The fool dies of an heart attack. During the marriage ceremony, a person sarcastically hints at the hero as a person who doesn't know his own father. The hero then sets on a mission to his native village 'Cinema Patti' to find his parents. Many old Tamil movies are spoofed from thereon. He finally finds his father Mokkai (Periyardaasan) through a family song which turns out to be the english song (‘Michael Learns To Rock’ number, ‘Someday someway’). As a twist, he is also engaged as a Police Officer who is on a role in an undercover mission to kill the terrorists in the city. This is a spoof of a popular movie Pokkiri. On the way to Pondicherry, he tells about his police work to Priya. He sent a missile wrongly to the commissioner office which destroyed the building. Due to that, he got dismissed. He then worked as a security guard. The commissioner calls Siva to do the undercover operation but he rejects. When the C.M. of Tamilnadu and the P.M. of India request him on this, then also he rejects. When Obama asks him, he accepts because Obama is his family friend. When in Pondicheey, he sleeps and gets beaten by D's assistants. People who were killed by Siva are the assistants of "D". Siva kills another man with the bad odour of his sock. Priya is kidnapped by D's gang. Siva is admitted to hospital. After his recovery, he saves Priya. On the way to see D, he overcomes challenges - using rubber slippers to escape from electric shock, using a balloon to suck the air, he walks on fire by using 'karakaatam' technique. Finding D is the climax. The film ends with Siva walking happily and a quote narrated by the movie's director C.S.Amudhan that Siva walks in his own path because walking is good for health.

Review:

Asal is Ajith's 49th film. Its of course a much awaited movie by the Ajith fans. This movie has brought back the old team Ajith and Saran. Also Ajith is the Assistant director of the film. He is also credited for the story, screenplay and dialogues along with Saran and Yuhi Sethu. So he has an extra responsibility for the good going of the film.

Asal is a story of riot between three brothers over a property. Two of the brothers (Sampath Kumar and Rajeev Krishna) are constantly fighting for the wealth and the property while the other brother keeps aside and tries to stop the family getting split. The feud existed there in the family right from the father's time and is still continuing even after the death of the father. Both the good son and father's role is played by Ajith. The wealth seems too much for the brothers to handle and they land in trouble. So Ajith comes for their rescue. The rest deals with the climax. For more see the movie Asal.

Sameera Reddy is playing the heroine, has no much scope of performance in the film but has enacted her role very well. Bhavana looks pretty in the movie. Ajith, as usual is looking glamorous and handsome in the film. Even Sampath, Rajeev and Pradeep has done their roles of villains very well. As far as the story is concerned there is nothing much extra ordinary in it and sometimes it pricks that the cast , especially Ajith is given a priority than the script. Yuhi Sethu tries hard to provide a few comic moments, succeeding partially on the rare occasion; his side kicks trying hard with a few gimmicks as well. Prabhu shows a dignified presence. The only thing to say that its the presence of Ajith in his stylish costumes and accessories that stop one from getting bored.

Technically speaking the shots in France is quite appreciable. The camera has done a wonderful job. The streets and other beautiful sceneries of France is beautifully impressed. Action scenes are not that pleasing and could have been made better. The music by Bharadwaj gives hardly any feelings.

All in all the movie Asal, produced by Sivaji Productions can be categorized as a stylish movie by Ajith. Altogether Ajith has impressed his fans but director Saran disappointed again. The movie is visually pleasing and one can enjoy his time seeing the movie. Don't think too much. Just watch the movie.

Review:

Mani Ratnam’s latest flick Aaitha Ezhuthu has enough substance for the mass audience - popular stars, excellent music, brilliant camera, striking stunts and an interesting plot. What more you expect from a film?

The movie begins with Inba (Madhavan), right-hand to a power hungry politician – minister (Bharathy Raja) following motor cyclist Michael (Surya) along the Marina Beach Road in Chennai. In the meantime the young lovers Arjun and Meera (Siddharth and Trisha) plunge into the scene. As Inba fires bullets on Michael, a shocked Arjun interferes to save Michael and the story of the three young men unfolds. Their change, their conflict, and their interactions with each other form the crux of the film. The film examines the lives of these three men, their romantic interests and their families and the complex relationships between individuals who are very different, yet so similar.

Mani must be credited for telling a story of three youths whose characterization has been well etched. Lots of homework has gone into the roles which many a youth would identify.

Though the screenplay is taut and slick with brilliant camera by Ravi K.Chandran, the meticulously crafted sets of Sabu Cyril, background score of A.R.Rahman, the film must be credited to the two heroes - Madhavan and Surya. Their contribution as actors has lifted the film in many parts. It’s quite difficult to say who has done better. Toughie roles have been done by both, but the difference here is the intensity that these actors emote on screen. Madhavan in the tough-guy role is spectacular. Surya has the youthfulness and that rare combination of strength and vulnerability to pull off the rebellious college student. Siddharth is just right for the happy go lucky youngster who undergoes a life changing experience. Needless to say Mani has given an outstanding new villain to Tamil cinema - Bharathy Raja. He has given a commendable performance. The three girls Meera - Esha - Trisha too have very good meaty roles. Undoubtedly it’s Meera who steals the show while Esha who could have done a better job stumbles in many places. Trisha fits the role to a T. The overdose of politics in the climax jars the narration. The stunt scenes are a treat to watch.
